Today is one of those days where my true nature comes out, and it becomes apparent that I should NOT have a job where I have to deal with the public.
I wish this blog had scratch and sniff capabilities - everyone one in this place has been either smelly, crazy, impatient, rude, crazy, crazy, crazy, and did I mention just down right stanky? God. It just freakin' STINKS in here right now. Not to mention all of the coughing, sneezing, snucking, farting, and snotting. Really. Freaking. Gross.
I could have spent today handing out meds and soap.
I can't wait to leave.

MPOW was like that the other day. I was sitting peacefully at my desk in the back when the branch manager asked me to come out to the Children's desk and help her out (the Children's staff were out at a meeting and she was covering the desk alone). After 5 minutes out with the public, I was astonished at the stink of humanity filling the library. Holy Cow, was it awful!
Oh,and my wife says you should keep some Lush bath bombs on your desk, for some quick olfactory relief (or for chucking at rude patrons, since those things actually carry some heft). She recommends the Blackberry and Avobath.
I am a LUSH fanatic! Since I don't currently have a tub big enough to soak in, this sounds like the perfect use for bath bombs.
My friend the librarian keeps a bottle of that liquid hand sanitizer at her desk and uses it all day long.
Frankly, I've always wondered how peeps working the library can stand some of the smelly clients. I do feel for the homeless, but it is hard to breathe in the reading room when they are camped out there all day long in the winter. It's not like you can really SAY anything directly to them either...
